GST Guidance for Australian Brands

GST Guidance

If you are an Australian company this article provides general guidance on Goods and services tax (GST) and how we handle it in your invoices. You must let us know if you change your GST registration status as soon as possible so you can be invoiced accurately.

For more information on GST and how to register please see here.

GST Registration Status

If you are shipping from Australia and registered for GST we require your Australian Business Number (ABN) to ensure we are compliant with tax reporting for the Australian Tax Office (ATO). You are required to register for GST when your turnover is AUD $75,000 or more per 12-month period.

What is an ABN number?

Your Australian Business Number (ABN) is a unique 11-digit identifier for businesses and organisations.

How to provide your ABN

You can view and update your ABN in your dashboard.  Go to 'Account Settings' > 'Billing Details' > 'Secure Billing Portal'. Please include your ABN in the 'VAT' field.

Pricing Guidance

We ask you to provide a Product Price when you upload your product. This should be the price at which you sell the product in your home market (AU), in your local currency (AUD).

We consider your Product Price to be inclusive of GST as we are eligible to pay this on all AU sales. This means setting your price as the GST inclusive price. For example, a product price of £110 is equal to £100 + GST of £10. This also helps for managing margins as platforms such as Wolf & Badger will be obligated to remit the tax portion to local authorities and you will be paid the GST exclusive price for any sales.

We calculate commission and other item level fees using your Product Price inclusive of GST. Payment is calculated by taking the GST exclusive Product Price, less order item and order level fees.
